“CyberWarfare and CyberSecurity: What Everyone Needs To Know” with Dr. Peter W. Singer
Dr. Peter W. Singer will address the Naples Council on World Affairs on Monday, April 7th, 2014, at St. John the Evangelist’s Kiney Hall, 625 111th Avenue No. in North Naples, at 3:45 and 7:30pm.
Dr. Peter W. Singer
Dr. Singer is a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution and one of the Smithsonian Institution’s “leading innovators in the nation”. He is also the Director of the Center for 21st Century Security and Intelligence. His new book, “CyberWarfare and CyberSecurity: What Everyone Needs to Know” will be the topic of his lecture. A generation ago, "cyberspace" was just a term from science fiction, used to describe the nascent network of computers linking a few university labs. Today, our entire modern way of life, from communication to commerce to conflict, fundamentally depends on the Internet. And the cybersecurity issues that result challenge literally everyone. Dr. Singer’s lecture will be given “in a lively, accessible style, filled with engaging stories and illustrative anecdotes” which means we should all emerge experts!
Dr. Singer’s research focuses on three core issues: current U.S. defense needs and future priorities, the future of war and the future of the U.S. defense system. He lectures frequently to U.S. military audiences and is a prolific author of books and articles relating to those issues. He is a graduate of Princeton University and received his PhD in Government from Harvard University.
