Pakistan: The Most Dangerous Country in the World

Pakistan looms as perhaps our most difficult challenge in the foreign policy arena, and Mr. Riedel has been advising the senior levels of our government on this issue – as well as other South Asian and Middle Eastern issues - for decades. He advised the last four presidents while a member of the White House’s National Security Staff. He was a negotiator at the Camp David, Shepherdstown and Wye River Israeli-Arab summits. He chaired a policy review panel on Afghanistan and Pakistan for the current administration, and last December, at Prime Minister David Cameron’s request, he advised the United Kingdom’s National Security Council.

Mr. Bruce Riedel is one of the nation’s top experts on Pakistan. Mr. Riedel is a graduate of Brown (BA), Harvard (MA) and the Royal College of Defense Studies in London. He retired in 2006 from the Central Intelligence Agency after a distinguished 30-year career. He currently is a senior fellow at the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institution and teaches at the Johns Hopkins University School for Advanced International Studies. He is the author of two books – one on al-Qaeda and one on Pakistan – and many articles in leading foreign policy journals.
