Dr. Milani’s talk will focus on recent developments in the Muslim Middle East and the impact they have had, and likely will have on the Iranian regime. Will Iran witness its own Spring? How is the clerical regime responding to the democratic movement in the region? Is a possible fall of the Assad leadership in Syria a threat to Iran’s behavior and position? What are the essential elements of the two competing paradigms facing the Muslims in the region: Iran’s clerical rule based on Sharia, or the Turkish model of democratic rule by moderate Islamic parties? Which will prevail?

The answers to these provocative questions and an unveiling of our new audio-visual system await you! See you on Halloween!
