will welcome

Dr. Khalid Koser

Monday, February 8, 2016

St. John the Evangelist’s Kiney Hall

625 111th Avenue No. North Naples

3:45 pm and 7:30 pm

Dr Khalid Koser, Vice-Chair of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Migration, will address the Naples Council on World Affairs on Monday, February 8th, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist’s Kiney Hall, 625 111th Avenue No. in North Naples, at 3:45 and 7:30 pm.

As the refugee crisis reaches 14.6 million displaced men, women and children, the world is faced with the worst crisis since the Second World War and each day brings images and reports that are impossible to ignore. As we ask “what can and is being done”? Dr. Koser is eminently qualified to address that dilemma being faced each day in many parts of the world, but specifically in Europe.

Dr. Khalid Koser holds a PhD from University College in London (1993) and a BA from the University of Cambridge (1990). Dr. Koser has published widely on asylum, refugees, internal displacement and international migration. He is also co-editor of the Journal of Refugee Studies and on the editorial board for Global Governance; Population, Space, and Place; Ethnic and Racial Studies; Forced Migration Review and the Journal of Conflict Transformation and Security.

He is a Member of the Order of the British Empire, [MBE].

We are excited to tell all of you ofa unique opportunity for NCWA to partner with Seacrest Country Day School andShelter Box USA in a program to educate students on disaster relief, and specifically the Syrian Refugee Problem, which will be sponsored through our 2016 Village Assistance Program. The program has been adopted by Seacrest’s Student Government and includes the purchase of 7 Shelter Boxes whose contents include a tent which can shelter an extended family of 10 plus the tools and equipment needed for survival. Seacrest Seniors will be erecting a tent and displaying the contents of a Shelter Box outside Kiney Hall on the day of the lecture and we hope you will stop and have a look at these cleverly designed shelters. Members of the Senior Class will give a short description of Seacrest’s coordinated activities with the Council at the start of the lecture.
