HOW CAN UKRAINE AND THE VISEGRAD FOUR CONTRIBUTE

TO OVERALL EUROPEAN SECURITY?

The Naples Council on World Affairs will welcome Ian J. Brzezinski, Principal of the Brzezinski Group, on Monday, February 2nd 2015, at St. John the Evangelist’s Kiney Hall, 625 111th Avenue No. in North Naples at 3:45 pm and 7:30 pm.

As we approach the one year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Mr. Brzezinski will assess the security implications this conflict poses for the transatlantic community, including the security of Central Europe and the evolution of the West’s relations with Russia.  He will also assess the West’s response to this aggression and outline a way forward to effectively address what has become the most significant crisis in Europe since the fall of the Berlin Wall some twenty five years ago.

Mr. Brzezinski is an American Foreign Policy and Military Affairs expert and served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Europe and NATO Policy in 2001–2005, under President George W. Bush. For his public service, Brzezinski has been awarded:

  • Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service
  • Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas
  • Award of Ministry of Defence of Latvia
  • Romanian Medal for National Service, Order of Commander
  • Order of Merit, Republic of Poland, Officer Class.
