“THE ENIGMA OF CHINESE LEADERSHIP AND FOREIGN POLICY”
Professor Andrew Nathan will address the Naples Council on World Affairs on Monday, January 5th, 2015, at St. John the Evangelist’s Kiney Hall, 625 111th Avenue No. in North Naples, at 3:45 and 7:30 pm.
A member of the Advisory Committee of Human Rights Watch, Asia, and a member of the National Committee on U.S- China relations as well, Dr. Nathan will speak to the aggressive stance China has taken in the South and East China Sea, relations with the Koreas and Japan and understanding China’s leadership today.
Andrew Nathan
Andrew J. Nathan is Professor of Political Science at Columbia University. His teaching and research interests include Chinese politics and foreign policy, the comparative study of political participation and political culture, and human rights. He is engaged in long-term research and writing on Chinese foreign policy and on sources of political legitimacy in Asia, the latter research based on data from the Asian Barometer Survey, a multi-national collaborative survey research project active in eighteen countries in Asia. A prolific author, he received his B.A. in History, his M.A. in East Asian Regional Studies and his PhD in Political Science all from Harvard.
