Dr. Frederick Hess will address the Naples Council on World Affairs on Monday, January 7th, 2013, at 3:45 and 7:30 pm, at St. John the Evangelist’s Kiney Hall, 625 111th Avenue Naples, FL.
He will focus on how we can re-imagine an outdated school system, and how to best use the talent, time, tools, and money that schools and systems have at their disposal in order to create great structures of teaching and learning.
Author of the Popular Education Week Blog, “Rick Hess Straight Up”, Hess is a prolific writer and serves as executive editor of “Education Next”, as lead faculty member for the Rice Entrepreneurship Program, and on the review boards for the Broad Prize in Urban Education, and the Broad Prize for Public Charter Schools.
Hess has taught at the University of Virginia, University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown, Rice University and Harvard. He received his B.A. in Political Science from Brandeis University and holds an M.A. and PhD. in Government, as well as an M.ED. in Teaching and Curriculum from Harvard University.
