Carol H. Green, a retired newspaper executive, is Vice President for Operations and Communications for the Naples World Affairs Council. In that position she is responsible for communications, marketing, the website and technology and many back office operations of the organization. As Vice President for Operations, she is an Officer of NCWA and a member of the Executive Committee. She has been member for 10 years and leads a Great Decisions group. In 2021, she and Stu Schweitzer were named NCWA Volunteers of the Year for their work in preparing the Great Decisions program for virtual implementation during the Covid-19 pandemic. Before becoming an attorney mid-career, she was a news reporter and editor for 15 years, specializing in legal affairs and state and city government coverage. After passing the Colorado bar, she was among the first women labor relations executives among the 20 largest newspapers in the U.S. at both The Denver Post and Newsday in Long Island and devoted the last half of her career to negotiating labor union contracts to restructure newspaper operations facing incursions by the internet. She retired from The Post as senior vice president and member of the executive strategic team. She has a B.A. from Louisiana Tech University, Master’s Degree from the Yale Law School under a Ford Foundation fellowship for journalists, and a J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She is active in local and national organizations and is currently a literary agent in Naples. |
