    Japan’s Uncertain Future: 3-11 and Beyond

    Dr. Mochizuki’s lecture will examine the political, economic, social and foreign policy implications of the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11,2011. Joining us one year and one day after this horrific event, he will address Japan’s ability to recover and revitalize. What are the challenges that lie ahead and what will be the impact on U.S. – Japan relations?

    Dr. Mochizuki is the Director of the Sigur Center for Asian Studies and Director of the Asian Studies Program. He joined the faculty of George Washington University from the Brookings Institution where he was a Senior Fellow. He has taught at Yale University and the University of Southern California. He received his PhD from Harvard University.

    Jamie Horsley, "China's Rise Amidst Rising Challenges: Implications for U.S.-China Relations". Deputy Director of Yale University’s China Law Center, Ms. Horsley will address the prospects for political reform as a new leadership comes to power in the midst of a worldwide economic crisis.

    Anne Korin, Co-Director of the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security, "Turning Oil into Salt Energy Independence through Fuel Choice and Energy Security Challenges for the 21st Century".As co-author of these two titles, Ms. Korin will discuss what we can do to reduce the strategic importance of oil.
