Earl spent his early days, including high-school graduation, in upstate New York. He graduated from Williams College in 1960 with a BA in English Literature. He then earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Yale Divinity School and served as a Methodist pastor in VT for three years. He made a career change in 1966, working first in psychiatric rehabilitation and then as an administrator in VT’s Vocational Rehabilitation Program, which assists people with disabilities to enter the workforce and also helps them to live more independently in their communities.

In 1996 Earl and his wife, Barrie, retired and moved to Naples, first traveling by motor home and eventually building a house here. They still maintain their residence in Hinesburg, VT where they have lived since 1977.
For several years, attendance at the Council’s lectures and participation in the Model UN (including a few years as Chairperson of the Position Paper Committee) have been Earl’s privilege. He has enjoyed the Great Decisions group for at least a decade and has been a member of the Council’s Program Committee for three years. The Naples Council is “the place to be” for growth and stimulation.
Earl has been an avid boater for most of his life. He enjoys listening to classic jazz and since retirement is a Rotarian. He and wife have traveled extensively by motor home for the past 25 years.
